Prison Dental Care and Pharmacy Management

Correctional Health Partners provides management services for dental care and pharmacy, including formulary development. We manage prior authorization and claims for dental care (endodontics and oral surgery) against criteria listed in the Milliman Care Guidelines and other State guidelines.

We have experience developing new programs and systems to meet the needs of our clients. For instance, CHP created the Pharmacy Utilization Treatment and Management Committee (PUTMC) as a collaborative effort with one of our clients. This committee has created positive change by developing a clinical support system for youth corrections psychiatrists to standardize prescribing patterns and control pharmacy costs.

We also assisted a client in forming a Panel of Medical Consultants for the State that all network providers are appointed to after successfully completing our credentialing process. This provides liability limitation for the providers against offender lawsuits. This has made it easier for practitioners to make positive changes in the system, particularly with regard to pharmacy utilization management while reducing concerns about potential legal issues.
